0.7.0

The release that lets agents do the work: a comment becomes a task, an agent finishes it in a sandbox, and you review it before anything is pushed.

New

  • The factory. Make a task from a comment on the canvas or in the code and start it: a coding agent (OpenCode) works on it in a sandbox, a worktree on your machine or a fresh one on boat.dev, on its own dev/ branch with its own dev server. When it's done the task waits for review: open the live preview, ask for changes, or approve, which pushes only that branch. See Factory.
  • Agent view. A task's live preview beside the agent's terminal, with tabs for the agent, the dev server's log and a shell, and a switch to Chat: the agent's whole session (prompts, replies, tool calls and edits with their diffs) as it happens, where you can send messages, with images, or stop the agent.
  • Agents. A screen of every agent session, the ones waiting for someone first, with the open session's chat or terminal beside the list. One message in its box makes a task and starts its run.
  • Live agent status. With factory.herdr, Bud runs the agent in herdr as well and shows whether it's working, needs input or is done.
  • Hosting on GitHub. A hosted Bud on Cloudflare now reviews a GitHub repository, also a project in a folder of a monorepo (path), on a host name of your own (domain); captures install with the repository's lockfile (Bun, pnpm or npm), and the factory runs on boat.dev. See Hosting on Cloudflare.
  • Themes from three colors. A theme's background, foreground and primary are enough: Bud derives every other token, the terminal and the agent's interface included. A theme that also sets its shell gets its tints from it.

Changed

  • A simpler tasks screen. The board is agent-driven: no priorities and no blocked-by dependencies, and cards move by hand only to Closed and back. Each task shows the person who made it, and the board filters by person. Epics and linked tasks stay.
  • Only what's set up shows. A screen, button or notice appears only once its feature is set up; bud doctor explains the rest.
  • Fewer dependencies. The docs' Markdown pipeline, the slugger, YAML, the array diff, the picture comparison, the safe regular expressions and the icons are Bud's own code now.
  • Node 26.12 or newer is required.

Breaking for hosted Bud

  • GitHub replaces Bitbucket: GITHUB_TOKEN reads the repository and pushes the factory's dev/ branches, and BITBUCKET_API_KEY, BITBUCKET_API_EMAIL and BUD_FACTORY_PUSH_TOKEN are gone.
  • The deploy no longer makes a BUD_REMOTE_TOKEN; add one to .env when another host needs the remote API.
